Marketing center О.К.N.А. Маrketing and ОКNА МЕDIА portal summed up the growth of fine windows and surrounds market in the third quarter of 2010.

First quarter

Remember that in the first quarter of 2010 fall-down of fine windows and surrounds market constituted as much as 10%, comparing with the same period of past year. The period was characterized by long and cold winter, in fact, the coldest winter for the last 30 years, as well as continuing economic instability. All these factors kept down demand for windows.

Second quarter

However, in the second quarter of 2010 pessimistic scenario was changed to medium and then even to optimistic one. The growth of fine windows and surrounds market began in March after the cold was somewhat abated. And to a certain degree the improved demand for windows was the sum of delayed demand of 2009 and current demand. As a result, in the 2nd quarter the growth of fine windows and surrounds market amounted 24%, comparing with the same period of past year.



Third quarter

In the third quarter of 2010 there was a sudden increase in demand for plastic windows. But from July to September the demand for windows was temporarily subsided because of unusually hot summer and extensive wood fires, which truly became the plague for most Russians. For example, anomalous heat contributed to significant increase in mortality rates. Many settlements were burnt down. So, the customers began to buy in air conditioners and fans, or otherwise went to cooler places. Abatement of heat, which conventionally fell just on September, which is considered the period of most active window sales, helped to save the situation. As a result, in the 3rd quarter the growth of fine windows and surrounds market amounted 29%, comparing with the same period of past year.

Forecast for the fourth quarter of 2010

According to О.К.N.А. Маrketing the growth of window market in the 4th quarter will be somewhat reduced, comparing with the 3rd quarter, which is partially due to seasonal factor, such a coming of winter, and constitute only about 23%.

Consequently, the market of plastic windows will be raised by 20% in 2010, comparing with the past year.

And that is notwithstanding another slowdown of global economy, which is gradually spread to Russian economy. This is due to exhaustion of money assigned to fight the crisis and accordingly absence of incentives to growth of global economy. And while in 2010 it could hardly have any effect on demand, it may have quite negative influence on the market growth in 2011.
